The New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo announced his decision to step down from his office on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, and resign after multiple women accused him of sexual harassment. The investigation by the New York Attorney General’s office found that Mr. Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women. This has prompt him to make a decision to step down whilst investigation is ongoing even though he continues to deny the allegations.

He is currently facing impeachment as an investigation is ongoing and the report has led many prominent Democrats to turn against him including the President of the United States Joe Biden, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, and Senate leader Chuck Schumer. Despite this, Cuomo stated that his instinct was to fight through this controversy and he confessed that, he had been too familiar with people and told the women he never did harass them and would never intentionally disrespect a woman.
