President Muhammadu Buhari revealed a shocking report, alleging that a National Assembly member, VIPs were funding Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu for the push of division of Nigeria.

The President made this assertion while giving his 37-minute Presidential speech on Friday in Abuja to mark the Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary.

In his words, Buhari said: “The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo, and the ongoing investigations being conducted have revealed certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals. We are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the national assembly.”

He further said: “This is a clear example of how people abandon their national leadership positions for their selfish gains. Instead of preaching unity, they are funding and misleading our youth to conduct criminal acts that sometimes lead to unfortunate and unnecessary loss of lives and property.”

Nnamdi Kanu was abducted and extradited to Nigeria, held by Department of State Services (DSS) on an 11-count charge of treason. Sunday Igboho on the other hand is still be held by Benin Republic authorities on his attempt to flee Nigeria.
