Oba Akinyemi of Iselu withdraws the chieftaincy title conferred on the former Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Oba Asoludero for the sake of peace and harmony. This was made known in a letter addressed to Okorocha and a copy of this letter was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The withdrawal was announced in a letter addressed to the former governor and the court also ordered the forfeiture of over 500 properties to Imo State.

The letter by the Monarch partly read;

“For the record, I want to declare to Your Excellency that Eselu-in-Council and the good people of Iselu Kingdom will continue to love you and other well-meaning Nigerians, home and abroad.

Your Excellency should note that the doors of my palace will continue to remain open to you and other patriotic Nigerians, at all times for the progress of my community and Nigeria, in general.

My advice to Your Excellency is that you should continue to help the needy in Nigeria, especially through your Foundation.

Also, do not forget that the development of every society requires all hands to be on deck. Hence, Your Excellency’s continuous show of love towards the development of the Iselu Kingdom will always be greatly appreciated.

Sir, it is my belief that what tomorrow will be, will be determined by the future.”

On August 10, a high court sitting in Owerri also ordered the former Imo Governor to forfeit over 500 personal properties he acquired while in office to the State Government. However, his lead counsel, Oba Maduabuchi stated that they were going to appeal the judgment.
