Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the mercenary company Wagner, died in the Russian jet accident along with the other nine passengers, according to the BBC.

Yevgeny Prigozhin was reportedly on the passenger list of the private jet that crashed north of Moscow, killing 10, according to the Russian Civil Aviation Authority.

The Embraer aircraft, which was flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew members, according to TASS.

According to reports, the plane went down in the Tver region, north of Moscow.

Just two days earlier, Prigozhin, who is thought to have been on board the flight, gave his first video speech since his foiled rebellion in June.

After his march on Moscow, the mercenary chief, who was later dispatched to Belarus, uploaded a video of himself speaking while clad in camouflage and clutching a gun.

Prigozhin is thought to have been in Africa based on the video, and he mentioned making the continent “free” for Russia.

The film was Prigozhin’s first video speech since he marched his mercenaries toward Moscow in late June, and it was circulated on Telegram groups connected to the Wagner Group.
